Goa is one of the smallest states in India. It is a former Portuguese colony and one of the most relaxing places in the world. It has beautiful beaches stretched along its long coastline facing the Arabian Sea. In the early 60’s it was famous amongst the hippies who thronged its beaches and many have stayed there ever since. They initiated a movement, which gave birth to a new genre of music called “Goa Trance”. It is also famous for its night flea markets and a buzzing night life. Goan food has Portuguese influences and has a predominant flavour of coconut. There are several old monuments, Forts and Churches in Goa built in the colonial era, which displays its rich and enigmatic cultural past.
