A journey to Rajasthan is incomplete without a visit to the lake city of Udaipur. This trip will take you to several majestic forts and palaces in Rajasthan along with a visit to see the Taj Mahal. This is a unique experience where you can go on a shopping spree and buy colourful Indian handicrafts and semi precious stones.
Welcome to India. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel, The Maidens, New Delhi. It is a heritage styled property, which embodies luxury of the colonial era. Get a taste of Indian hospitality while you enter the hotel by the hotel staff. You will experience the traditional Indian welcome, whilst you complete the check-in procedures. We realise that our guest will be tired and jet lagged by a long journey, so the first day is for you to relax and get acclimatised to the surrounding.
After a leisurely breakfast and a short orientation, we shall commence our day with a tour of New Delhi. It is the capital city of the largest democratic country in the world with a population of 25 million. Delhi is a city that bridges two different worlds. Old Delhi, once the capital of Islamic India, is a muddle of narrow lanes lined with crumbling havelis and formidable mosques. In divergence, the imperial city of New Delhi created by the British Raj is composed of spacious, tree-lined avenues and imposing government buildings.
We shall be visiting sights such in Old Delhi, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar (Tallest stone tower in India), Rajghat (Mahatma Gandhi Memorial), Lotus Temple, India Gate and Bangla Sahib (Sikh Temple).We shall also be passing through the Parliament Building of India. It is the centre of power in India.
After breakfast we continue with our sightseeing of Delhi. We visit the beautiful Akshardham temple. This architectural marvel was opened on 6th November 2005 and it took 8000 volunteers from all over the world to build it. The highlight of the day would be the rickshaw ride, driven by a single person manually and two pillion riders in the back is a remarkable way to explore the hustle-bustle of the narrow streets selling wares of every description. The ride would be accompanied by peels of laughter both from the passenger as well as the onlooker. We provide you with ample time for shopping and would also share some haggling tips, which is essential in India on your tour.
After an early morning breakfast we depart for Agra .We arrive in Agra just in time for lunch .We check-in at our hotel. After lunch we depart for Agra fort. The Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city.
We also go to see the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna river. Later we proceed to see the world famous inlay work on marble by the local artisans (Pietra Dura)
Return to hotel for dinner.
Overnight in Agra.
One view of the Taj isn’t enough. Early morning after breakfast we proceed to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World, The Taj Mahal. It is the most extravagant expression of love ever created. 20,000 men laboured for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife. After the visit to the Taj we see the nearby local market showcasing Indian handicrafts where you can do shopping and practise your haggling skills, which you might have picked up by now.
We proceed for Jaipur. Enroute to Jaipur we stop over for lunch at Fathehpur Sikri, the old deserted town of the Mughal Empire. The city was founded in 1569 by the Mughal emperor Akbar, and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585.On arrival at Jaipur you will be transferred to your heritage styled property.
Welcome to the pink city of Jaipur. After breakfast we start our sightseeing with a visit to Amber Fort. Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds it's ultimate expression. Continue sight- seeing. If weather permits you can enjoy the ride to the fort in an elephant back. We will also visit the city palace A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum.
After lunch we continue our sight seeing tour of the pink city, we will visit The Hawa Mahal or ‘’The Palace of the winds’’. The main architect of this palace built of red and pink sandstone, is Lal Chand Ustad and the palace is believed to have been constructed in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god.
Overnight in Jaipur.
After breakfast we continue with the sightseeing tour of Jaipur. We will visit the mighty and the magnificent Nahargarh Fort. Nahargarh Fort stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the pink city of Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The view of the city from the fort is impressive. We will also visit The Jantar Mantar monument of Jaipur, Rajasthan is a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments, built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh, and completed in 1738 CE.
We arrive at the hotel for lunch. This afternoon is dedicated for shopping where your transport will take you back to the local market where you can find traditional Rajasthani Artwork. This evening after an early dinner you will experience and enjoy the Rajasthani cultural dance and folk music. Ladies can try out the traditional women attire of India the Saree and the Men’s can try the Kurta & The Turban. You will be assisted while wearing these outfits.
Overnight in Jaipur.
A tour of India is incomplete without a ride in the famous Indian rail. We depart from our hotel early morning to Jaipur railway station where we embark on our train towards the romantic city of Udaipur. We arrive in time for lunch in Udaipur where you will be transferred to your hotel. After lunch you are free to relax or venture out for a walk in the lake city.
Overnight in Udaipur.
After breakfast we start our day with a rickshaw tour of the lake city as it is fondly called by locals. Udaipur is a very popular tourist destination. Apart from its history, culture, and scenic locations, it is also known for its Rajput-era palaces. The Lake Palace, for instance, covers an entire island in the Pichola Lake. Many of the palaces have been converted into luxury hotels. It is often called the "Venice of the East”. We shall be travelling in the by lanes of Udaipur where you will get familiarised to the city.
After lunch we will continue with our sightseeing by visiting the grand city palace, Jagdish temple and we shall also go on a boat ride to witness the beautiful sunset from the lake Pichola.
Overnight in Udaipur.
Today you are free to spend time at your leisure. One can walk around the vast hotel complex and enjoy the greenery around you. The hotel's intricate layout of interconnecting domes and corridors reflects the layout of Udaipur itself - whose seven lakes are linked by canals. These domes and walkways are flooded with sunlight, caressed by balmy breezes and offer magnificent views of the lake and gardens. You will also see a lot of peacocks within the property along with other birds where you can feed them too. We highly recommend you the poolside bar stirring some lip smacking cocktails to indulge in.
Today after breakfast, you will be transferred to the Udaipur Domestic Airport from where you will take a domestic flight to New Delhi. You will be transferred to the International Airport from where you will make your onward journey with a bunch of enthralling and mesmerizing memories of your tour.
