Day 1   New Delhi

Day 1 New Delhi

Welcome to India. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel, Get a taste of Indian hospitality while you enter the hotel by the hotel staff. You will experience the traditional Indian welcome, whilst you complete the check-in procedures. We realise that our guest will be tired and jet lagged by a long journey, so the first day is for you to relax and get acclimatised to the surrounding.

After a leisurely breakfast you will commence your full day tour of Old & New
Delhi. Visit Asia’s largest mosque Jama Masjid, Qutub Minar, Mahatma Gandhi memorial. Delhi had been a favourite of many dynasties and rulers in the past. Due to this, the heritage and culture of Delhi has influences of various ethnicities. One part is Old Delhi and the other half is New Delhi. Old Delhi is known for its architectural wonders that brilliantly depict the tales of its bygone era. On the other hand, the new face of Delhi has modern infrastructure that talks about the urban delights of the city.

Optional –Visit to Kingdom Of Dreams (closed on Monday)

In the evening visit Kingdom of Dreams. This fabulous Kingdom brings to life a blend of India's art, culture, heritage, craft, cuisine and performing art...all with the technological wizardry of today. Nautanki Mahal showcases an extravagant cinematic and theatrical musical. Culture Gully is an elaborate culture, arts, crafts and Food Boulevard. Showshaa Theatre is a fabulous, colorful drama marquee spotlighting Indian mythology productions, a mock wedding show and the great Indian talent circus. Iifa Buzz is a glamorous Bollywood themed cafe. This is a destination in itself that is capturing the imagination of the world. Breakfast will be at Hotel. Later you drive to Agra through the 4 lane Express Highway.

Arrive and check in at Hotel.

Once a small village on the banks of the Yamuna, it was transformed by two great Mughal monarchs, Akbar and his grandson Shah Jehan into the second capital of the Mughal Empire – Dar-ul-Khilafat, or ‘seat of the Emperor’ in the 16th & 17th century.

Late Afternoon, you will be met with your Guide, who will take you for the sightseeing tour of Taj Mahal (Closed on Friday). Taj is built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan to enshrine the mortal remains of his beloved Queen Mumtaz Mahal.

Optional: - Dawn Visit of Taj Mahal

Today after breakfast, you will be taken for the sightseeing tour of Agra covering Agra Fort and Itmad ud Duala, popularly known as Baby Taj.

Visit the massive Agra Fort which was originally started by Emperor Akbar in 1565, but his son, Jahangir, and grandson, Shah Jahan, later made valuable additions to it.

Itmad Ud Duala - This tomb was built in 1622 for Ghiyas Beg, father of Empress Noor-Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir.

Later day is at leisure.

Optional: Kachpura Heritage Walk

Afternoon proceed for Kachpura Heritage Walk. A narrow bridle path through agriculture fields near Mehtab Bagh takes you into the ancient village of Kachpura and Humayun’s Mosque. The walk ends in Mehtab Bagh from where you will have the opportunity to watch the Taj Mahal during sunset from across the river.

Morning after breakfast drive to Jaipur.

During your drive, you will visit the once seat of Mughal legacy, which is an abandoned city glowing red under the sun, Fatehpur Sikri - the deserted red sandstone city built by the Great Mughal Emperor, Akbar, as his capital and palace in the late 16th century is just 37kms from Agra.

Upon arrival check in at the hotel

JAIPUR – the capital of Rajasthan province is known for its arts and crafts, jewellery, hand-painted fabrics and stone sculptures; it is one of North India’s finest examples of a planned city embodying the best of Rajput and Mughal architecture.

Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Today morning after an early breakfast visit the hilltop fortress at Amber. Ascend the imposing fort on a decorated painted elephant.

After the visit on the way back pause to view the elegant Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds. Continue to Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh ll in the 18th century. The City Palace is built within the fortified area of the original city, with one of the finest monumental entrances in India. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 7     Jaipur – New Delhi

Upon arrival in Delhi, check-in at the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8      New Delhi – Kalka – Shimla

Morning, you will be transferred to railway station to board train to Kalka. At Kalka, transfer to the Exclusive Toy Train (no assistance), a narrow gauge line covering almost 100 km, where the top speed rarely exceeds 20 mph. Arrive in Shimla, be met and transferred to your hotel for check in (Standard check inn at 14:00Hrs).

Shimla – The capital city of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla lies about 343 km from Delhi at an altitude of 2,213 metres above sea level. Shimla was declared the summer capital of India in 1864. After India’s independence, Shimla became the capital of Punjab till 1966, when it came under Himachal Pradesh.

Morning, start by visiting the Vice-regal Lodge. This also happens to be the place where the partition of India into two parts India and Pakistan was planned on the world map. The British architecture here is amazing; the wooden work inside the building is still kept alive as it was during the British rule. After the tour of this impressive building visit a Hindu temple containing shrines to the many and various Hindu gods. After lunch, enjoy a leisurely stroll back along the Mall to Scandal Point. En route, it may be possible to have a quick look inside the Gaiety Theatre or Christ Church. Alternatively find a spot for refreshments whilst viewing snow-capped Himalayan peaks (if weather is clear). Overnight in Shimla

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Afternoon, you will be transferred to railway station to board train to Delhi. Upon arrival, be met and transferred to your hotel for check in.
