Kochi, or more familiarly, Cochin is a city of many parts. Around for a long, long time, Kochi played a pivotal role in the development of shipping and trade in the region. Optional - In the evening enjoy a sunset cruise in the Cochin Harbour. See the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets and the beautiful coastline from the motor boat.
Overnight at Kochi
Today after a hearty breakfast you will proceed to explore the city thoroughly: visit Cochin City. You will first proceed to Mattancherry, where you will visit the oldest Jewish Synagogue (Closed on Saturday) in India, built in 1568. From Jewish Synagogue you will visit Chinese fishing nets. The cantilevered fishing nets line the entrance to the harbour mouth. You will then visit St. Francis Church. You will also be visiting The Dutch Palace (Closed on Friday) at Mattancherry, which was built in 1555 and its coronation hall and murals at Ramayana are noteworthy features.
Evening witness a classical Indian dance show- Kathakali. Kathakali (Katha means story and Kali means play) is the classical dance drama of Kerala, which dates from the 17th century and is rooted in Hindu mythology.
Overnight in Kochi
After breakfast, drive to Munnar. On arrival check inn at the hotel.
Rest of the day is at leisure. MUNNAR - Munnar is the nature-lover’s paradise. Snuggling in the green and serene Kannan Devan Hills lies the quiet and restful resort of Munnar.
Overnight at the Hotel
After a leisurely breakfast ,proceed to visit Tea museum (Closed on Monday). The Tata Tea Museum diligently portrays the growth of Munnar tea estates, veritably conveyed through some of the displays like the rudimentary tea roller to the modern fully automated tea factory.
Late visit Echo point, Mattuppetty dam (No boat ride), photo point etc. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Overnight at Munnar
Later you will drive to Periyar. Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary, encompassing an area of 777 sq. km. Set on the attractive man-made Periyar Lake.
On arrival in Periyar, proceed to check-in at the hotel.
In the evening visit Kalarippayattu show. Kalaripayattu is a martial art which originated as a style in Kerala. The word Kalari first appears in Sangam literature to describe both a battlefield and combat arena.
Overnight in Periyar
In the morning proceed for a guided walk through spice plantation to see the cultivation of cardamom, pepper, vanilla and coffee. Rest of the day is at leisure.
Afternoon, you will be taken for the boat ride on Lake Periyar, to see the animals come down to the lake to drink. This amazingly beautiful national park owes its existence to the construction of a dam on the river Periyar in 1895.
Optional – In the morning, in this programme we give you the opportunity to try a new and unforgettable experience, off the beaten tracks of the very traditional elephant walk.
Five elephants live in this farm, under the attentive care of their Mahouts. A very particular relationship is here created between these wonderful pachyderms and you, and we offer you the opportunity to spend a rare and special moment with them. Located just outside of the city,nestled within the cardamom, coffee and pepper plantations, the surrounding itself is already very peaceful.
During this 1.30 hour, you will get the chance to feed your new friend, do a walk within the plantations, and then give him his bath.
Overnight in Periyar
In the morning you will drive through the countryside to Kumarakom. Upon arrival at Kumarakom, proceed to check in your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure.
Kumarakom, Located on the Southern coast of India enjoys a well-balanced tropical climate. Nature has composed its magic to perfection here.
Optional - On the way to Kumarakom you will do a Tea Trail programme (closed on Public holidays & Sundays). This program includes a guided trip through the garden, an interpretive slide show, a guided factory visit, an opportunity to experience the different flavours of Connemara tea.
Overnight in Kumarakom
After breakfast you will be embark houseboat from the Hotels’ Jetty point to board houseboat.
Climb aboard the traditional kettuvallams (rice boats) converted into houseboats with bedrooms and attached toilets.
Optional – In the morning Visit to Phillipkutty’s Farm with Lunch
The farm is located on a small farm island (approx-750 acres) in the backwaters / Vembanad Lake next to Kumarakom within the Vechoor village limits. The farm is about 50 acres (owned by the family and some relatives) and is the largest farm on the island. The island is a reclaimed property. It was the last island to have been reclaimed in the backwater region for agriculture.
Overnight on the Houseboat
After your memorable cruise and overnight stay you leave the houseboat and will be met with your driver, who will drive to Kovalam and check into your hotel there. Kovalam Beach is a natural bay, sheltered from the high waves. Here you can treat yourself to another Ayurvedic massage, famed for its rejuvenating qualities or simply chill out by the sea.
Optional - In the morning do a walking tour of Alleppey followed by Lunch. Explore the village areas in this walk.
Overnight in Kovalam
Today your day is at leisure for independent activities.
Optional - Sightseeing tour of Trivandrum or Thiruvananthapuram, a beautiful seaside city build on hills overlooking quiet lush valleys which covers the Padmanabhaswamy Temple which is dedicated to the serpent Anantha, with its magnificent tower rising in seven storeys & Napier Art Museum also makes for an interesting visit.
Overnight in Kovalam
Today morning after breakfast, you will be transferred in your private car to Trivandrum Airport to connect flight for onward destination with a bunch of enthralling and mesmerizing memories of your tour.
