Classic Chile

(Santiago - Porto Natales - Valparaiso - Atacama)

Overview

Cities, coastline, mountains and desert, this independent Chilean adventure offers them all. Set off from Santiago, Chile’s capital for the wilds of Patagonia, the colourful Pacific-side city of Valparaíso and the vast Atacama Desert.

Classic Chile is a flexible itinerary, allowing you to change the number of nights you spend in each destination and the hotels in which you stay. Any sightseeing mentioned is a suggestion only; you can choose to pre-book excursions or explore independently.

SANTIAGO: In Chile’s capital Santiago, which is set in the shadow of the Andes, you can head to the top of Cerro San Cristobal for panoramic city views (if the weather permits); experience world-class dining in upmarket neighbourhoods; wander around the Plaza de Armas, the heart of the city; or even take a day trip out to the nearby wine regions such as Casablanca Valley.

PUERTO NATALES :This waterside city is the gateway to the spectacular Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. An outdoor adventurer’s paradise, the park offers a spellbinding landscape of towering peaks, vast glaciers and ice-fed lakes. The majority of people come here for the fantastic hiking opportunities, while horse riding, lake cruises and mountain biking are also popular.

VALPARAISO : This colourful port city sits on a series of hills overlooking a bay. It has long been a favourite with artists and writers, giving it somewhat of a bohemian ambience. You can spend hours exploring the chaotic network of steep streets that are lined with historic crumbling mansions.

SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA :The Atacama Desert is claimed to be the driest in the world, with parts having never recorded any rainfall. Highlights of the region include the geyser field El Tatio, and Moon valley which we recommend visiting at sunset. The Atacama Salt Flat, which is one of the largest of its kind in the world, is also well worth a visit. Part of the salt flat makes up Los Flamencos National Reserve where you may spot three different species of flamingo.
